Final Report Clarifies No Safety Concerns with the Tamarack Upgrade

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has finalized a 15-month investigation, following the March 30, 2023 incident where a CitationJet safely landed in Tampa, Florida with nearly 70 inches of wingtip missing.

The investigation included extensive testing and inspections, and it has “revealed no anomalies” with the Tamarack equipment and “no fatigue observed” in the structure.

Tamarack Aerospace Group welcomes the recent Final Report issued by the NTSB, found here, which confirms that there are no safety concerns with the Tamarack Active Winglet upgrade.

Tamarack provided a comprehensive Party Submission, including a 41-page analysis indicating that the red paint on the wing tip could only have come from an external object, and the Party Submission includes discussion of other documented cases of customer winglet damage on the ground.

The analysis suggests that such damage could potentially be missed in preflight inspections due to the elevated position of the wing tip and indicates other underlying damage that could have gone unnoticed.
