The first-ever European customer installation of Tamarack’s ATLAS™ Active Winglet system concluded on April 29. The installation on a Cessna Citation CJ aircraft HB-VPF, operated by private hire company JetPingu, took place at Textron Aviation’s Service Center in Zurich, and took approximately 400 man hours to install.
Making a wing more efficient with a winglet comes from more evenly distributing the aerodynamic loading on the wing to reduce drag; but this always introduces more bending load in the wing. In other words, the greater the benefit provided by the winglet design, the more wing load is increased.

Tamarack Aerospace Group, Inc. announced today that the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) granted a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) for Tamarack’s ATLAS™ Active Winglet system for the Cessna (model CE525) CitationJet and its variants, the CJ, CJ1, and CJ1+. EASA certification for the Cessna M2 will follow in 2016.
