The Tamarack Aerospace team mourns the loss of aviator and journalist Mike Collins, alongside the entire flight community. We offer our deepest condolences and support to Mike’s friends, family, and AOPA colleagues.

The Tamarack team had the privilege of knowing Mike Collins throughout his many years working at AOPA. He was a kind soul and a kindred spirit in his love for aviation. We met Mike through a friend and mutual aviation connection, Mike Laver. The pair completed a historic transglobal flight back in 2013, and after 25 days flying, they returned with warm and positive attitudes; in fact, we never knew Mike Collins to be anyone other than a positive, thoughtful aviator.

There are many versions of the saying, but Mike Collins seemed to have found the adage to be true: “If you do what you love, you’ll never work a day in your life.” He always had a smile on his face where airplanes were involved.

We wish you blue skies and tail winds Mike, you will be missed by many.
