The Tamarack team is saddened to hear about the passing of Joe Clark, the aviation leader that commercialized aircraft winglets, making them ubiquitous in modern aviation.  Starting with a mission to make a Gulfstream II fly across the country nonstop, Joe then launched API in 1991 and his blended winglets are now found on most Boeing 737’s and many other aircraft. He brought this traditional winglet technology into the forefront which has saved billions of gallons in fuel, as one of the greatest sustainability improvements of the late twentieth century.  Joe embodied the spirit of entrepreneurship and passion that it requires to introduce disruptive technologies in the field of aviation.  We have been inspired by his advances and we continue to honor his contributions.

Here is an excellent video from NBAA when they honored Joe with the 2015 Meritorious Aviation Service Award for his contributions to Aviation.
