Tamarack® Aerospace Names Justin Ryan President and Charlie Johnson VP of Business Development

Veteran Executives to Help Revolutionary Aerospace Company

(Sandpoint, Idaho, April 10, 2017) – Tamarack Aerospace Group Inc. today announced effective immediately, Justin Ryan has been named President of the company and Charlie Johnson has been named Director of Business Development.  Founder and inventor Nick Guida will remain Chief Executive Officer.

Ryan spent the last 10 years as an executive at Honeywell Aerospace, most recently as President of BendixKing.  He previously led Honeywell Aerospace’s business with Airbus and other European customers, and was VP of Strategic Marketing & Planning.  Ryan also worked for McKinsey & Co., where he led engagements in a variety of industries and was COO of a software services start-up.   He’s an active pilot and aircraft owner, and was a Naval Aviator.  He holds Aero Engineering degrees from MIT and an MBA from Wharton.

“During his time at Honeywell, Justin built an impressive track record in our industry,” said Nick Guida, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. “He is a successful leader who brings a wealth of experience along with a reputation for growing new business, strengthening customer relationships, and developing organizations. Justin will be an important team member as we continue to accelerate our growth at Tamarack.”

“I am extremely excited about the transformative capability Tamarack brings to market,” said Ryan.  “The value proposition that Tamarack Active Winglets provide is unprecedented in my experience.  The now certified Cessna CJ with Tamarack Active Winglets achieves astounding performance gains – on the order of a 20% increase in range and decrease in fuel burn.  We have a tremendous opportunity to bring this technology to a wide variety of aircraft, including more business jets, commercial transport aircraft, and military applications.  I am enthusiastic to work with Nick and the talented team he’s assembled to drive accelerated growth for the company.”

Charlie Johnson was formerly President and Chief Operating Officer of Cessna.  He brings to Tamarack more than 35 years of leadership experience in aviation.  He is an active pilot with type ratings in all Cessna Citation models and many other aircraft and is a former Air Force fighter pilot.

“Charlie is a legend in the industry with a stellar track record leading Cessna,” said Guida.  “His deep engagement with the business jet community will enable him to drive broad adoption of Tamarack Active Winglets.”

“It’s unheard of in our industry for a simple aircraft modification to provide the kind of benefits enabled by Tamarack active winglets.  I look forward to bringing this innovative technology to aircraft owners and expanding our network of committed partners,” said Johnson.

Tamarack® Aerospace Group, Inc.

Idaho based Tamarack Aerospace Group Inc. invented and patented the revolutionary Active Winglet system. Tamarack’s certified Active Winglets are three to four times more efficient than passive (traditional) winglets. The Active Winglet system typically provides a 12-18% reduction in fuel burn, performance gains and increased asset value. The Active Winglet system is comprised of a wing tip extension, a highly tuned winglet, and load alleviation technology. The load alleviation system counteracts gust or maneuvre wing loading events and eliminates the heavy wing reinforcement and structural additions required by all passive winglets.

In 2013, Tamarack set an unofficial world record by flying 1853nm (26 kt tailwind) in an Active Winglet equipped Cessna CJ.  In 2016 Tamarack flew a CJ3 2037 nm (25 kt tailwind) at MMO, landing with 1130 lbs. of fuel on-board.
